How I Started Keeping Frogs

July 14th, 2010

Personally I love collecting. It is a good way for a person to pass some time doing things that they enjoy and can share with others. Collecting involves seeking out or discovering the item, locating it, and acquiring it. I think the best part is locating the perfect item. If you are really into collecting you may even catalog each piece, photograph it and keep a journal. Another group of hobbyist can find pleasure in how they show off their collected items in their home. A good collector not only has the item but also has some tale about how they got it or what it means to them personally. The way that one person deals with this hobby is different from the next person who indulges in it.

A person can enjoy the hobby of collecting just about anything and the amount they spends depends on how much they want to. There are many people who make their living off of the hobby of collecting. Scientists are collectors, museums and libraries are collections. Not only is it not just something that a person does on the side, it is what they have turned their career into. No matter what people collect it is something that interests them. It should be something they want to learn more about or just enjoy having. People collect for many different reasons but most of all it is just plain fun. I chose the world of amphibians for my collection. Collecting Frogs – a Fun Hobby for All Ages was something that I read that got me started on my journey and it has continued to be part of my life for many years and is now enjoyed by my whole family.

Where did I begin? The one who got me started was my mother. When I was young we lived in a house that was surrounded by trees. Lots of trees and a bit secluded. We had lots of places to play around in. My mother got the first piece in my collection. Why did she do it? Because of where we lived, it was important for me to have one in my room. I still have that frog. I was able to discover more items that I would find ways to display in the home that made me proud. Every time I added something new to my collection I added another tale of how it became part of my collection. Each time I pick up one of my frogs it will stimulate a pleasant thought about its purchase or find or the person who gave it to me and that is the most fun about collectible frogs. I began adding frogs to the home to make it look nicer. I have tried to maintain that integrity and theme for the most part. It is important for me to not have people think I am crazy because there are frogs just about anywhere they look in my home.

Frog collections are perfect decorations for both your home and your yard, and I can truly say I have an army of frogs and that I am proud to have www.myfrogcollection.com bookmarked as one of my favorite sites to visit on the internet. Once in awhile I will find a great article about real frogs and enjoy reading up on them. I have more interest in them due to what started as collecting decorative pieces. Not only do I share the pieces I have on display, I also share the knowledge that I have garnered. I am proud to be a great source of knowledge for my friends. It is not my concern that there are those who think my hobby is odd and don’t want to be around it. My collection of amphibians will always be there for me.

The Hobby Of Collecting Frogs

July 13th, 2010

There is a growing interest in collecting ornaments and figurines relating to frogs. No one is sure why frogs are becoming collectors’ items. Perhaps it is because many scientists see the fall in frog numbers in some places as a sign that the environment is under stress. It could also because a person finds the frog to be a beautiful creature that looks good in their home. There are plenty of places for people to find out about this hobby including the site www.myfrogcollection.com, and That is where people can start there collection and all of the fun that surrounds it. Companies are providing plenty of items for the collectors to choose from. A frog can be found in almost anything even if it seems to have no place with it, companies still find a connection. People have made almost all household items with frogs somehow attached, and there are frog calendars, diaries and other paper products decorated with frogs. Almost any product can be molded into something that is related to the amphibians. There is no end to the number of collectibles that a person can find for their collection.
Stores are full of merchandise that appeal to many people. Another way is to check out your local yard sales to see what other people have bought in the past. The only thing that stops a person from finding what they need is the limits of their imagination. There are frog collector’s newsletters available on the internet and they are easy to find, using any search engine using the term collectible frogs which demonstrates the passion of a frog collector that they want others to continually join them. There are much worse things to collect.

As is the case with any collection there needs to be a way of knowing what is in the collection and there needs to be confidence that the collection is safely stored. There are no standard ways for a person to record the items that they have collected and it can be done however they like. Use whatever electronic means available, so that the entire collection is recorded. Another good reason to catalogue a collection is that it may help in choosing what to spend hard earned cash on next. Collectors can usually spend any amount of money that is available. Don’t spend so much that you can’t afford the basic necessities.

The storage of frog figurines and ornaments can become a challenge, particularly, if the collector wants to display all the items. Frogs are a great thing to display, but care should be exercised when a person is going to put them out to make sure that they are not damaged or over handled by admirers and the elements.

Collecting Frogs – a Fun Hobby for All Ages means that none of these challenges are really too big for the avid collector, until the collection is really large, and whatever is done, it should be done with enjoyment and fun. Collecting should not be a chore. There are signs that will let you know that you have crossed over as a frog collector when some of the following happens. If someone wants to know where your house is and you tell them on a nearby lily pad, it could mean trouble. If you are scared that your house is beginning to look like it is a rectangle with four glass walls, start to worry. If you name your baby after a green muppet, that is a clue. If French cooks begin to scare you, you might want a different hobby. If you find yourself salivating over a winged insect, it is not good. You may be a collector. Have fun and enjoy.
