Amazing Tips To Get Golf Club Discounts

November 11th, 2011

We all know that the first rule of non-professional golfing is that all bad shots can be put down to the golf clubs. The second rule is that the most efficient way to boost your game is buy new golf clubs. Okay maybe we know this isn’t a fairly sane approach to improving our game but just about all of us are looking for that next great driver or putter to put us OTT right?

But men’s golf clubs can get pretty pricy. Is there a way to get a deal on these things? Naturally there is.

The best deals on golf clubs happen when a new model is declared. In contrast to the vehicle industry, club manufacturers update their clubs frequently. When the most recent and best model is announced, that club you had your eyes on now becomes overstocked inventory. It’s possible to get it for a third off, or if you can wait two months, it is easy to get it for up to 66% off.

If you don’t mind used clubs, and while they’re in good condition why would you, there are some absolute steals available. The least expensive place to get used clubs is at a yard sale. Real life story. I got a barely used Callaway Great Big Bertha II with head cover for $10 at a yard sale. Why the low price? Because I bought it from the better half. The partner was out playing golf and left the sale to his spouse.

Yes this takes a little time but there are real diamonds in the coarse to be found if you work at it. Test your local paper or online classifieds like Craig’s list for times and locations.

Another reliable source for used clubs can be found online at the larger club manufacturer and retail sites. Manufacturers will have “demo” clubs for sale and the retail sites regularly take trade-ins when they sell new clubs. These sites are sometimes a source of glorious buys and have the additional value of coming with customer service which of course the yard sale doesn’t.

Don’t thumb your nose at the large box stores. You won’t find top of the line clubs there but often time’s you’ll find lower end clubs that are either unique ( like my $40 Dunlop 9 wood from Target that I would not sell for $400 ) or merely incredibly priced.

If you know precisely what you need and you have some patience, it is possible to get a heck of a deal on men’s clubs.
