Are You A Handmade Jewelry Fan? Here’s How To Get Some Without Dropping A Bunch Of Cash!

August 2nd, 2010

When you go browsing for jewelry, what are you trying to find? Do you choose your jewelry based on price? Do you pick it based on the color? Do you choose your jewelry based on style? Are you concerned about it being one of a kind? Is it crucial for you to have something unique? If uniqueness is something important, you could save a lot of time by shopping only for handcrafted jewelry. Jewelry that is produced in the masses for department stores is nice and all, but if you desire a different kind of piece, handmade jewelry is a path you should consider.

Handmade jewelry stands out. Even if the artist puts together two pieces with the same design, you will probably never find another piece like it.

Mass produced jewelry though is made with a template put into a machine and the chances of seeing a variation in the jewelry is highly unlikely. When you get a piece of mass produced jewelry, you will for sure be wearing the same piece as other people who bought from that same line. On the contrary, handmade jewelry is always different from the rest. Buying handmade jewelry is the greatest bet to be wearing something unlike anyone else.

Etsy.com is a great site for handcrafted jewelry. This website consists of thousands of different sellers who specialize in different types of arts and crafts. Everything you view on Etsy.com is either vintage or antique or it has been handcrafted. Those are the standards for peddling on Etsy. The nice thing about Etsy is that you can browse for hours through all sorts of different types of jewelry without having to worry about someone actively trying to sell to you. You can check out the site on your own time and buy when you are able to.

Offer up your time as a trade for the pieces you love–this is the best way to get handmade jewelry without spending a cent. Does the artist have a website? Offer to build one! If you have your own store, you can sell some pieces for them in exchange for them making you a piece or two of your own. This can be a little bit tricky so make sure that you tell the artist up front that you are hoping to trade for their work (especially when you do not have the money to buy the work outright). Some artists will allow you to purchase the piece through a payment plan if they don’t need your services. Some might even be nice and simply give the piece to you!

Handmade jewelry is a fantastic addition to any accessory box or wardrobe. There are so many reasons to buy handmade jewelry. This style of jewelry is commonly less expensive than the jewelry you can select from in your local jewelry shops. It is extraordinary (where mass produced pieces never can be). It is also incomparable.

Something good about having a piece of jewelry that is handmade, is you will have a one of a kind piece – without having to pay the expensive price involved when you purchase jewelry that has been specifically commissioned.

Another great gift is painting a room in the house for them! You can learn more information on this site here on Edmonton House Painters or Edmonton Painter
