Best Free Online Poker Reasons Why Skill Not Luck Wins Poker Games

January 30th, 2011

Do you need talent to sucked at poker? My belief is that even free poker games let alone cash games needs some level of talent in order to win more than once on a while. Assuming you want to win more than occasionally and get some money in your wallet I’ll try to explain why poker needs talent, is not just luck and how you can develop your own talents.

Poker is a bit different from other card games because of the variety of options and possible hands. At the very ground level you have your cards in hand which form the basis of your hand and from here there are 5 more cards laid on the table as the hand progresses, each of which opens and closes and multitude of options to you and the other players.

The winner in most cases is the player who can believe in his cards and hang-in there till the very last. Luck, or as I prefer to see it, probability that is to complex to manage, does have a role and as it is just “luck” you cannot play it so you aim to do what you can with the cards and information you do have and aim to eliminate your opponents as early as possible.

A lot of methods can be used like bluffing or raising the stakes so that others might be forced to fold. In most cases it is not the cards that make you win, but the way you play your game.

It therefore requires a lot of talent. First you have to be confident about your cards. Next you need to make a careful observation and study the players on the table.

Finally, you need to keep track of the cards opening on the table and the way people place their bet. It might look tough initially, but when you keep playing the game you definitely get the hang of it.

Inexperienced players who you should target can be simply categorised as follows:

Bluffers – the one who play rashly and bet on any card and believe in winning every game.

Simple players – the one who usually bet small amounts bet only on high cards and pairs

Donkers – the one who bet crazily without having much knowledge about the game

Plus there can be players who are a combination of the above types.

To win consistently and succeed in ever higher money games you must develop a keen ability to study your cards, the players and the situation you are presented with.

This is not easy but experience will help you. If you are new to poker and need to learn how to play poker as a beginner, first play poker online for free and when you feel secure in your skill step up to micro stakes games and continue to build a bankroll and gain higher level experience.
