Computerized Sewing Machine

August 31st, 2010

Are there other alternatives to a computerized sewing machine?

Sometimes people need a new sewing machine, perhaps their machine is a bit old or they are beginners. You want to have a good sewing experience so it is very important that you choose the correct type. There are four basic types, thus let us have a look at what your options are.

Electric Sewing Machines

This is a basic sewing machine which is driven by a motor. The motor drives the needle, bobbin and the feed dogs. Your speed is determined by a foot pedal, the more you press your foot down the faster the machine will operate.

For years women have been using this type of machine and it really works well. If you decide that this is the machine for you then just have a look at the various types you can purchase and have a look at the different features, then you can decide what will work best for you. This is a solid type machine and many people have done well with them.

The Computerized Sewing Machines

This is basically like the electronic model, however more apt technology has been incorporated. These sewing machines offer an array of awesome features. Indeed they are computerized; they come with screens which show you the stitch selection, width, length etc. What is great is that the machines are pre programmed, which makes it so much easier to use.

These machines are easy to use and very user friendly. If you feel that this is the machine for you then have a look at different models. There are so many you can choose from and a basic computerized machine can cost you as little as $150. You get very expensive machines, so decide what you want to do with this machine and then make a decision.

Overlocker

An overlocker is certainly a luxury. What this machine does it finishes off the work very professionally. But this can just as easily be done with a normal sewing machine, it won’t be that professional, but who will notice anyway?

Other than the overlocker function this machine is limited and cannot replace a sewing machine. Most sewers have a normal sewing machine and later on they get the overlocker, but not the other way round. This is a great machine, no doubt about it and if you have the means then it would be great. A lot of people who do sewing professionally have these machines and it would be a great investment for your business.

The Manual Machines

Just because they are operated by turning a handle doesn’t mean that they don’t work well. This machine does not work with electricity. What you have to do is turn a handle which powers the machine. It may take some hard work, but they do a great job. These machines aren’t much in use anymore, but back in the day people had no other option. The new models which are available these days are easier to use, so these machines are no longer in demand.

There are the different models you can choose from. Currently most buyers go for a computerized sewing machine, because it has everything you could possibly want and technology makes sewing a breeze.
