Mack Truck 1907 an Expedient Forerunner of Semi-Trailers Tugged by Mack Trailers
Although it was the three Mack brothers who first launched a business in the early 1890’s to construct wagons and carriages, it wasn’t long after that when they turned their focus toward more elaborate vehicles. The three Mack brothers, in 1900, produced a 20-passenger bus powered by a 40 hp engine when they opened their truck production plant.
In 1904 the company was manufacturing heavy-duty trucks known as “Manhattans,” and the Mack Truck 1907 was soon to follow.

The assembly kit available online, 38 pieces in all, weighs much less than the original seven-ton truck. Twenty-five of those pieces are tan plastic, while the remaining 13 pieces are chrome-plated parts. It is said that a patient child can follow directions and construct the 38-piece kit into a model. It’s important not to glue pieces into place before various parts have been painted.
After nearly one century of being under the ownership of the Mack Company, Renault took the reins in 1990. That relationship only lasted 10 years before AB Volvo of Sweden purchased the Mack Company from Renault.
