Motorbike Touring

August 15th, 2011

Travelling in solitude has many advantages for riders. Not only can the motorcyclist chose his own route but he can travel at his own speed and if chosen, stop off in various locations to take pleasure in the sights and take in the wonderful views on offer. If a detour is fancied then there’s no-one to consult before doing it – the planet is virtually your oyster!
Exploring alone, however, can also have its shortcomings. Complete breakdowns when you are on your own may also be troublesome and are considerably simpler to deal with if riding in a bunch so explore street bike riding clubs that include a range of tours covering an array of countries.

Group tours may be just as enjoyable as going alone, however it is well for the group to sit down first and choose exactly where they are travelling to, just how long each day they will ride and just how long they will stop off in desired spots. If all of these matters are specified before starting your journey then there will be no quarrels en route. Remember that some riders ride quicker than the others which means you may have to reach a compromise amidst members if you plan to stick together through the tour.
Being ready for a motorbike tour is essential so be sure to pack the right clothing for the journey. Make sure your motorcycle is properly checked over and both brakes and clutch are reviewed. Oil and oil filters must be changed and constantly checked throughout the trip.

Motorbike insurance covering the bike and also the driver is essential. Falling ill abroad can be costly and if you are involved with a road accident then it is imperative that both you and the bike are fully insured.

Whether you chose to ride alone or in a bunch, motorcycle touring can be an exciting way in which to see the planet and as long as you are careful and fully ready for the voyage with tankpads and motorbike accessories, it will definitely be one you’llremember for a lifetime.
