Portable Safety In Less Than One Litre!

December 2nd, 2011

If you’re going off into the bush, jungle or outback, ensure you have some survival supplies with you in case you get lost or separated from the group. Hundreds of people get lost in the wilderness every year and would have a better chance of survival if they went for portable safety and took sufficient survival supplies with them. It isn’t paranoia, it is simply common sense.

You do not want to bring the kitchen sink. To the ingenious survivalist, everything has at least three uses. Bring a selection of light, handy, basic items. When it comes to packing survival supplies, the faster the better. Shoot at portable safety : don’t bring a bunch of heavy whizz-bang technology that needs batteries or a power point.

Your survival supplies kit should equip you to survive alone in the elements for as much as two weeks. For optimum portable safety, keep your survival supplies in a container smaller than 1L. You will be more certain to keep hold of it in an emergency and likelier to carry it with you wherever you go. Attempting to believe you can survive for two full weeks with such a tiny survival supplies kit? Don’t .

Here’s all you need for portable safety :

A brightly coloured disposable poncho.
Light, folds up little. This will not just keep you dry and warm, you can hang it from a tree to attract rescuers, use it to store water or use it as a brief shelter.

Small emergency medical kit with : a bandage, one or two band-aids, iodine, painkillers, insect repellent.

SureAquaStraw for water purification. This is tiny, light and could save your life.

Waterproof matches.

Little roll of brightly coloured electric tape. Endlessly useful : can attract rescuers to your location, be used for fishing, hunting, creating shelter.

Fishing wire and a fishhook.
Regardless of if you’re miles away from water, fishing line will be useful for creating shelter and hunting.

Snare wire.

Little, lightweight compass to help assure and navigate.

Solar or aluminum blanket. Handy for warmth, tempting attention and building shelter.

Surgical blade. May be employed for hunting, fishing, cutting thru bushland, self-surgery and is great for when you need to build a shelter.

Non-lubricated condoms. ( No, not in case your rescuer is lovable. )
Condoms are the final methodology of transportable safety. You can store large volumes of water and left-over food as if you’re careful they often stretch several metres before breaking. If storing food, tie the condom to a tree to keep it away from wild animals. Condoms may also be stretched over arms or legs to be utilized as bandages.

Needle and thread.
Handy not only for correcting your garments but also for creating shelters.

Little notepad and pencil.
Permits you to write notes to rescuers informing them where you’re going. Paper is also handy for lighting fires.

Swiss army knife.

The above survival supplies kit should ideally supply transportable safety wherever you are . Whether it be camping, hiking, white-water rafting, canyoning or another adventure, don’t go anywhere without the above survival supplies. If things go bad, it’s vital to be prepared.
