Stimulating Points On The Best Way To Assess Your Horse Prior To Fitting An Equestrian Saddle

April 23rd, 2011

If you haven’t been around horses for a long time or are not really knowledgeable about their conduct, you’d be wise to perform some on-line research before you consider any active interaction. If you’re in the beginning stages you will hopefully be engaged with an animal that has been trained properly and is tamed with an equestrian saddle, but must even so always remember that these are basically wild animals.

The horse, as a creature, frequently looks for safety in numbers. It has a formidable inclination to interact with a herd and whenever split up, as might be the fact here, will usually feel most content whenever it is in recognisable surrounds. You can liken this conduct to some natural act of recognition. While in the wild, settings may change often while the pack moves, although the creature will still acknowledge the other members of the pack and be comforted from this familiarity.

Just like the horse might be pleased with a recognisable setting, it can be typically stressed and tends to be suspicious of anything that is unusual. This will include you, for starters, therefore you should not engage in any sudden movements or act in any manner that might be viewed as being a threat in the animal’s eyes.

A horse that is confined for any length of time will be an unsatisfied creature. Yet again, understand that they may be accustomed to being totally free and moving about frequently. They might require plenty of physical exercise and if you are not cautious will develop behavioural complications due to their lack of stimulus. If you ever see an animal swaying its head back and forth over the stable door, this is what’s called “weaving” and can be a signal that this creature isn’t getting adequate physical exercise, motivation or diversity in its daily life.

Do not take anything for granted. Understand that even though it is fairly easy for you to pull on a pair of ladies jodhpurs or gentlemen’s breeches, don’t suppose that this horse is going to take to saddles effortlessly and without a doubt.
