July 27th, 2010

You don’t have to spend a lot in order to get your hydroponics garden on your windowsill or porch started. In fact, all you require in order to get things started is a hydroponic starter kits.

To locate a hydroponics starter kit, you just need to let your fingers do the walking through the internet. A lookup on www.bing.com for example averages 104,000 replies to the phrase “hydroponic starter kits”.

On one site, http://www.ahlgrows.com/hydrokits.html I found several small kits that you can put just about everywhere. A starter kit is even branded as the Garden of Ease. The package contains the following: four net cups, which you can use as container for your seeds or seedlings, 2 liters of grow rocks, a water pump, and a reservoir that comes with a plastic cover. Naturally, all the guidelines are included, and the price is just $59.95.

Another package comes from Stealth Hydroponics and is known as the Bubbleponics Kit. The Bubbleponics Kit contains anything that you need in order to get you started. Form six net cups, to the growing media (rockwool) and an automated irrigation and drainage system. It even comes with the grow lights to make your crops grow extra large! The cost, is only $189.95. The Bubbleponics package is a great way to get going.

When you are searching for these hydroponic starter kits to get your hydroponic garden off the ground, be careful to make sure your kit is sold in the US. Many of the starter kits available on the net are posted in GBP, (Great Britain Pounds) not US Dollars. This is fine if you live to be in the UK, but you might have to figure the conversion, and if the company is willing to ship across the pond, you will likely pay a premium.

Using a starter kit is a great way to ease into hydroponic gardening. It is also ideal if you simply do not have the available space for anything larger.

A small endeavor like this is ideal for novices. You can always extend in case you discover the need to do so. Some individuals will start out with a small-scale kit like the ones mentioned above, and might extend the garage, or a shed. There are even individuals who will build a greenhouse with the express objective of hydroponic farming.

Nonetheless, it is usually best to start small especially when you are just getting started. Use a hydroponics starter kit as much as possible.

Make certain that the starter kit you obtain contains everything and that includes the nutrient solution for your plants. The solution can come in different packagings, some can be in packets of power while others can be pre-mixed, but these nutrient formulations should be bundled at all times. However, grow lights are optional because some hydroponic starter kits do not include these and you may need to buy these lights individually.
